I chose a wall mounted, single-sided woman's torso that stands two feet in height. I wanted uniformity in color and paper quality, so I purchased a travel book on Italy and used only the images from that one book, making sure the pages were heavy enough to withstand glue and a gentle washing, and glossy enough for a finished look.
Cut out dozens of images, large and small, from your source and, starting at the bottom, begin laying out small sections. Use tiny pieces of tape to temporarily hold a few cutouts in place. When you are certain that the shapes and sizes work together, begin gluing.
Fill a plastic bowl with white glue. Using a foam brush, apply a thin coat of glue to the back of one image at a time. When that image is in place on the mannequin, flatten out any folds, air bubbles or wrinkles with a dry, soft cloth and wipe off any visible glue with a damp cloth or paper towel. Prepare the next piece, and so on. For a finished edge, select images large enough to wrap around to the back of the torso. |
